A Modern Earthy Therapy Website for Yoga and Trauma Group Practice

UPDATE: Since I first wrote this post, Sharnise expanded her business even more! They now have a training program and a host of other offerings for therapists so as of Summer 2023, we added a whole secondary navigation just for therapists! Definitely check it out, especially if you are interested in trauma training.

When I first spoke with Sharnise Hendrick of Lotus Embodied Counseling in Columbia, MD I was struck by her crystal clear vision for her practice. She created a group practice for survivors of complex trauma, and she wanted a website that felt fun, earthy, clean, and modern.

Sharnise already had a gorgeous set of brand photos as well as a logo. She wanted a site that was both grounded and approachable with a warm and bright personality (just like hers!). We developed a brand font system, color palette, graphics, textures, and supplemental stock photos to capture the vibe she was aiming for.

We added elements like the scrolling text and the leaf-shaped images that echo the concept of a lotus.

Getting the color scheme right was easy. Have you seen how dreamy her office is? Have you gazed upon the glory that is her emerald green sofa?? Her office photos we absolutely the inspiration for the palette. We made it bold but simple (my favorite).

This website is multi-purpose as it speaks to therapy clients, those who may be interested in private or group yoga, and to professionals who want to learn more, so we kept the navigation and calls to action simple so users can find exactly what they are looking for.

We created the site with SEO and accessibility best practices in mind. And of course, we made a beautiful mobile-friendly version of the site as well. Squarespace makes that super simple (one of the reasons why Squarespace is the best for therapy websites).

Sharnise created the copy using my copywriting guide for therapists and I helped with copyediting. She wanted to the tone to be hopeful, professional, clear, and informative, and I feel like she nailed it.

I loved working with Sharnise. The work she is doing is so inspiring and I look forward to continuing to work with her as we build upon this site as her group practice evolves.
