7 Reasons to Use Squarespace for Your Counseling Website

When it comes to choosing a website builder, there are a lot of options out there, and you might be confused about which one is best. If you’re a therapist in private practice, I think Squarespace is hands down the best way to go, and today I’ll tell ya why!

  1. It’s the easiest! Of all the website builders I have tried, it is the one that is the most intuitive and least complicated, hands down.

  2. Security. All the security best practices are in place, so you don't have to think about it or worry about it. It is a “closed-source” network, so only the internal developers have access which makes it extra secure. As a therapist who handles Patient Health Information (PHI) there are some settings you should use to make sure any PHI you may collect on your site is secure (for example, if you have a contact form on your site, make sure it is linked to a HIPAA compliant database or email account).

  3. It's beautiful! It has design best practices baked right in, and everything about it is aesthetically pleasing.

  4. It looks great on mobile. And that is no small thing because 50% of your traffic will come from mobile devices (and that number is projected to grow). As you build the desktop version, Squarespace will also build the mobile version. And just recently, they added the ability to adjust the mobile version with a simple drag and drop.

  5. You never have to worry about making updates to its functionality. You won’t get any emails saying that you need to manually update this or that plug-in or anything else like that, as you would with other site builders. Updates happen automatically, and they are constantly improving the platform.

  6. It makes Search Engine Optimization simple. That means your website will be easier to find on search engines like Google. And being easy to find online is so important these days when more and more therapists have websites. There are simple tools and steps you can take that are integrated into your site to boost your rankings.

  7. Adding custom code to the site is easy (but you don’t have to touch a single line of code). If you know some code and you want to apply it yourself (or if you hire a designer like me, who knows how), then it’s super simple. BUT if you have no interest in that, it’s easier and easier every day to make your site unique as Squarespace adds more and more customization and flexibility.
